【Member News】The On-Site Inspection of the *In-situ Monitoring and Control Experimental Device for Wide Band Gap Semiconductor Hetero-Heterointerface* at Wuhan University

      On September 16, 2025, the Cross-Disciplinary Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China held a field inspection meeting for the National Major Scientific Research Instrument Development Project (departmental recommendation) "In-situ Monitoring and Control Experimental Device for Wide Band Gap Semiconductor Hetero-Heterointerface" in Wuhan. Wu Lizhu, deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, attended the meeting online and delivered a speech. Relevant officials from the Department of Science and Technology and Informationization of the Ministry of Education, the recommending department of the project, and relevant staff members from the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, as well as Zhang Pingwen, president of Wuhan University, the project's host institution, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Fu Xuefeng, deputy director of the Interdisciplinary Science Division, presided over the opening ceremony, and Fang Jiancheng, head of the expert group from Beihang University, presided over the on-site inspection.

      Wu Lizhu pointed out that the major research instrument development project aims to focus on the frontiers of science and national needs, funding the development of original research instruments and core components that play an important role in promoting scientific development, exploring natural laws and expanding research fields, effectively promoting independent research and development of key core technologies, and enhancing China's competitiveness in the field of global research instrument development. After several rounds of selection in the early stage of the project, it stood out in the fierce competition and received unanimous recognition from experts. It is hoped that the experts of the inspection team will offer valuable opinions and suggestions for the project, fully review the implementation plan of the project, and ensure the high-quality advancement of the project. We look forward to building a first-class scientific research platform through the implementation of this project and providing broader services for scientists in related research fields.

      Zhang Pingwen said that the project's host organization attaches great importance to the project and will establish a special management committee to supervise its implementation; At the same time, full support will be given to the project team in all aspects to ensure that the project team can focus and work hard without distraction, providing support for China to achieve high-level self-reliance and self-strengthening in science and technology.

      Liu Sheng, the project leader, reported on behalf of the project team the background of the project, the research foundation, the research plan and schedule, the guarantee conditions, etc. Members of the expert group listened carefully to the project report, conducted inquiries and discussions, and inspected the laboratory of Advanced Manufacturing and artificial Intelligence of Wuhan University on the spot, focusing on the research foundation and support conditions of the project team.

      The meeting was attended by relevant staff members from the Department of Science and Technology and Informationization of the Ministry of Education and the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, members of the inspection expert group, project team members, representatives of the project's supporting and cooperating units, as well as relevant staff members from the Cross-Disciplinary Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
