      Recently, the Development and Reform Commission of Shandong Province released the list of newly recognized Shandong Provincial Engineering Research Centers in 2025. The "Shandong Provincial Engineering Research Center for Compound Semiconductor Single Crystal Substrate Preparation Technology" led by Qingdao Huaxin CrysElec Technology Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Huaxin CrysElec") was successfully selected. This breakthrough achievement is a high recognition of Huaxin CrysElec's scientific research strength and innovation potential in the research and development and manufacturing of compound semiconductor substrate materials.

      This center focuses on the independent control of key basic materials in the upstream of the semiconductor industry. With the goal of serving the major strategic tasks of the country and the province and city, and supporting and guaranteeing the implementation of major projects of the innovative industrial system such as the new generation of information technology in Qingdao, it conducts collaborative research and development through the combination of industry, education and research, strives to promote the aggregation and cultivation of talents, and strengthen the supply of key and common technologies in the industry Accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements to serve the high-quality development of the local economy, support in the implementation of Qingdao's innovation-driven development strategy, and promote the in-depth integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation in semiconductor materials.

      This center was jointly established by Huaxin CrysElec and Tongji University. It currently has 150 fixed R&D personnel. Through independent development, industry, education and research cooperation, and technical cooperation among enterprises, it has carried out over 70 R&D projects, among which there are more than 30 ongoing projects at the provincial level or above. It has obtained over 200 patents, participated in the formulation of 3 national standards, and won more than 20 honors and awards.

      It is learned that the center plans to overcome a number of key core technologies that restrict the transformation of industries towards high-end, carry out multi-dimensional industry, education and research cooperation with domestic universities and research institutes, make full use of the rich application scenarios in China, apply advanced technological achievements in more strategic emerging industries, and at the same time, aim at the key areas of the country's future industries, make forward-looking layouts for technological innovation directions and carry out corresponding research work. In the technical research and industrialization of high-quality ultra-wide band gap Gallium Oxide single crystal substrates, there are two approaches: one is to efficiently grow large-sized and low defect density high-quality Gallium Oxide single crystal based on the EFG method, and the other is to conduct research on the processing technology of Gallium Oxide substrates for the application requirements of high-power and high-voltage devices. In terms of the technological research and development and industrialization of large-sized and low-cost indium phosphide substrates, the first focus is on the design and control technology of the thermal field for the growth of large-diameter Indium Phosphide single crystal, and the second is to master the key technologies for improving the yield of large-sized Indium Phosphide single crystal and controlling low dislocation.

      Huaxin CrysElec was established in Qingdao High-tech Zone in 2011, specializing in the research and development, manufacturing and sales of compound semiconductor crystal growth and substrate materials such as Indium Phosphide (InP) and Gallium Oxide (β-Ga2O3). It is one of the earliest enterprises in China to conduct research and production of semiconductor compounds. The products are widely applied in fields such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, new displays, and new energy, changing the situation where domestic high-end semiconductor substrate wafer were completely dependent on imports. It has become a leading technology enterprise in the domestic compound semiconductor research and development, manufacturing, and hard and brittle material processing fields.

      Based on strategic planning and set goals, Huaxin CrysElec will rely on the provincial engineering research center, actively play a leading and dominant role in the industry, strengthen the collaborative cooperation and mutual support among upstream and downstream enterprises in the semiconductor industry chain and supply chain, develop and continuously optimize new compound semiconductor substrate materials, and through the optimization of pilot-scale processes and downstream application verification To achieve industrialized preparation and large-scale application of advanced products, enhance the overall innovation capacity and competitive advantage of the industrial chain and supply chain, and ensure the security, autonomy and controllability of key materials in China's semiconductor industry.
