      The SEMICON China 2025 International Semiconductor Conference has officially come to an end. Hangzhou GAREN SEMI Co., LTD., a scientific company incubated by ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center (Science and Technology Innovation Center for short), was awarded the "SEMI Outstanding Contribution Award for Sustainable Development". The award was established by the world-renowned SEMI International Semiconductor Association to recognize companies that have made outstanding contributions in the fields of technological innovation, green manufacturing and industrial synergy.

      SEMICON, founded in 1970 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, is one of the most influential semiconductor industry associations in the world. This event is also the world's largest, highest specification, most influential and the latest technology hotspot full coverage of the semiconductor "carnival".  
      Since 2018, the R&D team of GAREN SEMI Linkage Science and Technology Innovation Center has innovatively used AI tools to iterate calculation models, reconstruct Gallium Oxide casting methods, and break through foreign technology blockades. Since 2022, the team has upgraded one size every year, and has successfully prepared 2 inches, 4 inches, and 6 inches of Gallium Oxide single crystal, creating the "China speed" of Gallium Oxide material technology.  
      At the conference site, GAREN SEMI launched the first 8-inch Gallium Oxide wafer substrate to the world, announcing to the upstream and downstream partners of the global industry chain that Gallium Oxide has entered the 8-inch era and led the development of Gallium Oxide industrial applications.

      According to the relevant research and development team of the Science and Technology Innovation Center, compared with the 6-inch Gallium Oxide single crystal, the 8-inch single crystal greatly reduces the preparation cost, has a better wafer area utilization rate, and can be fully compatible with the current 8-inch production line of silicon-based fabs, laying a solid foundation for the Gallium Oxide single crystal to come out of the laboratory and large-scale industrialization. According to the team, an 8-inch Gallium Oxide single crystal can cut about four times as many small chips as a 4-inch one.

      Established in less than three years, it broke through the blockade and won the world award. Why is GAREN? Why does this " Science and Technology Brand " new company have such huge energy?

1 “Golden Track” under National Strategy

      Gallium Oxide, a new semiconductor material, is mainly used in power devices, radio frequency devices, solar-blind detector parts and other fields, is the key to "China Core" curve overtaking. Jin Zhu, a researcher at the Science and Technology Center, said that materials are equivalent to the "foundation" of chip manufacturing, and only the performance of the material itself has a breakthrough, in order to carry out semiconductor integrated circuit design and chip production on this basis.

      In the future, Gallium Oxide single crystal is expected to "ignite" a trillion-class industry new track. Take new energy vehicles as an example, if the use of Gallium Oxide power devices, will help the high voltage electrical system voltage to 1200V or even higher voltage, the future, new energy vehicles will achieve "minute level" fast charging. In addition, it also has great development potential in the extreme environment of aerospace, high-voltage and high-frequency industrial power supply and 5G communication, which can greatly improve the performance and reliability of the device.

From the laboratory in the Information Port Park, the team is excited to develop a new melt method technology for Gallium Oxide single crystal growth -- casting method, to now GAREN SEMI has been incubated in Xiaoshan, launched the first self-developed Gallium Oxide special crystal growth equipment and is open to the whole society for sale, which is behind the Science and Technology Innovation Center "entrepreneurial nursery + incubator + accelerator" full chain cultivation mode. "Gestation" with unlimited opportunities and possibilities.
